Conference: Imagined Futures V

The Centre for the Study of AIDS (CSA), University of Pretoria in collaboration with the Health and Wellness Centre, University of Botswana will be hosting the fifth Imagined Futures Conference on 28 and 29 September 2010 at the University of Pretoria. This year’s theme is 20/20 Vision: looking to the next decade through our last. It will reflect on a decade of HIV and AIDS programmes at Universities in Southern Africa, and will endeavour to identify priorities for the next decade.

Themes to be addressed at the conference will include, but are not limited to:

  • Testing and treatment at universities – then and now
  • Research and HIV and AIDS – critical thinkers or loyal followers?
  • Prevention – what has prevented us from achieving innovation
  • Curriculum – have we learnt from what we teach?
  • Sexual and reproductive rights – silence and discourse

Who should attend?
Student leaders, peer educators, student volunteers, HIV and AIDS programme managers, researchers and academics.

It is suggested that both academics/practitioners and students attend the conference. Past ‘Imagined Futures’ conferences have proved to be ideal for inter- and intra-university networking.

The conference seeks to create a platform for students, academics and practitioners/programme managers to interact with each other in order to facilitate horizontal learning.
